The week, as you know it
"Every Thursday someone pastes last week's release checklist into the chat and asks 'done?' until it is. Half the time I'm the one asking whether the backup finished and whether anyone told the client."
What changes
- Each step has a person. Freeze and tag, smoke-test, back up, deploy, watch. When a step is ticked, the next person is told: in Telegram, in the app or by email, whichever they use.
- The client and the moderator take part without a seat. Daniel adds the client's product owner by email. She opens one link in any browser, types a 6-digit code and acknowledges the release. She sees that run and nothing else of yours.
- It is all in one place afterwards. Every run keeps its steps, times, attachments and comments, with a line in the Shared journal. Steps can wait on each other ("starts after"), and any project or run opens as a list, board, calendar or Gantt chart.
The ready-made: Release day
Eight steps every Thursday afternoon, or started early for a hot-fix: freeze and tag, smoke-test with the result attached, back up, deploy, watch errors for thirty minutes, post the notes, the client's acknowledgement, and the journal line.
Also ready: Weekly on-call hand-over, New customer set-up and Incident response.
What it does not do
There is no API or webhook: a person taps the first step. It has no Slack, Discord or GitHub connection and no single sign-on. Your tasks with a due date can go to your own calendar through a private calendar link; nothing else goes in or out. Keep your issue tracker. RunOps Digital replaces the pasted checklist and the "done?".
